  • Before I use brute force...

I'm trying to swap the intake manifold for the explorer intake I got and trying to take off the old one, I'm stuck on removing the old TB EGR Spacer as it won't budge and the studs seem pretty locked in. I hit them with PB Blaster last night and I'm gonna try again when the kids go to bed tonight but I don't want to break anything taking it off as I'd like to have it done tonight. I'm at a point where if I can't get it apart without breaking it I'd rather wait a few paychecks and get a new 70mm TB and EGR delete spacer but I don't mind doing it now if I can without any additional costs.

As best as I can tell there's nothing holding it on but the fact it's stuck. Tricks? Tips? Ideas?

Heat will be your best option. Heat it with a torch, then hit it with the PB blaster and then whack it with a rubber mallet.

I hit the studs with blaster last night, I have a torch to use tonight...

The new one looks pretty decent though after I cleaned the shit out of it and painted it.

Double up the nuts on each stud and remove the studs. Then either clean or replace the studs.

I tried that last night, it's the only way to remove the studs but they wouldn't budge so I hit them with pb blaster and let them soak overnight. If they come out easy tonight then great... if not... balls.

Heat has worked for me a few times.

                Good luck.

The issue isn't so much the studs, I can get new studs... I need the EGR spacer off of there and IT is what's stuck.

The best I have used is oil of wintergreen. It's available in most pharmacies, and you need a dropper or something to get it where you need it.
