  • let's talk cold air intakes

    looking on American Muscle's site:

SR Performance Black Cold Air Intake (96-04 GT) Our Price $99.99
BBK Black Out Cold Air Intake (96-04 GT) Our Price $199.99
K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake (96-04 GT) Our Price $219.99
JLT Performance Next Generation Cold Air Intake (96-04 GT) Our Price $259.99

can anyone convince me to buy one over the other? I know you usually get what you pay for but I'm having a difficult time justifying the cost of the more expensive brands if we're only talking +/-2hp

I don't know the differences between them, I recommend getting one with a plastic tube, metal ones get too hot. Other than that, they're probably pretty much the same.

Oh, and getting the filter in the fender nets cooler air, but a higher chance of sucking up water.

I've always had good luck with the K&N FIPK. Well engineered and built products from a big company.

K&N publishes Dyno numbers for all their kits on their website, so you know what to expect. http://www.knfilters.com/dynocharts/57-2519_dyno.pdf

I would just go with the cheapest option but my bags aren't full of money yet either. They are all probably going to perform roughly the same so if you have the extra cash and want to spend it on something that looks better, do as you please.

Airaid or S&B works like a champ on the 2v cars..

                        S&B 75-2519-3 Retail is $182.89
                        Airaid 450-204 Retail is $229.90

They out perform anything we have put on the n/a 2v's
