$89?? What the hell lol. There was rarely a repair that expensive, otherwise it was totaled. We did have some parts hook ups though, we didn't use the OEM parts, due to them being just as prone to failure and lights years more expensive.
majorownage was the weed eater master, I hated them. I'll work on a riding mower or push mower all day with a smile, but a small weed eater carb will piss me off in minutes.

It was an original part, I remember looking at it. I just wouldn't pay it. And in my experience it was just a never ending cycle of fixing shit with them. I had one cheap ass homelite $100 trimmer that lasted for 8 years once. And ever since I got rid of that POS trimmer and bought high dollar ones I've had nothing but problems. All in all I decided the power of the gas trimmers isn't worth the hassle because for maintaining my yard I don't need it. It's nice thinking "I'm going to edge that." and then just do it.

No kidding. There is nothing like going out to do a job and discovering another one....

Left an electric and went with STIHL, enjoy it so far . Hated the damn cords and not enough power.

take the muffler off and clean it out, most of the time the two strokes will absolutely fill them with slugged, burnt oil.

All of the above. On mine, thanks to the EPA, I can't adjust the high speed needle without a "speical tool". Made one and adjusted the carb to run right. Fixed the same issue.

The Race Kart likes good 2 stroke oil so I use it in the weedeater and it help the gumming issue.

I will say that a cordless electric trimmer is good if you maintain your yard regularly. It will edge, trim, and cut through brush just fine, but it will struggle if it hasn't been edged in a year. Once you get back to maintenance it's great. No fucking with the choke or mixing fuel, going to the store for gas, etc. I don't like edging so I want that that done as quickly as possible. I have the Toro 24v trimmer

I went with the black and decker 18v. I bought the electric trimmer, blower, and pole saw. I have a corded edger and chain saw.

Between all the batteries, and a 100' extension cord I can maintain my 2 acres. They are lighter then gas, quieter then gas, and much more reliable then gas.

With that said, that toro looks boss.

Thanks for the info on the cordless. I may buy into one or two for general trimming and keep a gas one around for my heavier duty work. Wish I could use my riding mower for some of the heavier duty stuff, but one would die trying to do that (steep edges). Sucks doing with weed eater, I know there are snakes in those areas too.

Good info though, sorry to jump topics.

I had a cordless one for a couple of years but then the batteries stopped holding a charge long enough to use it for more than a few minutes. Said screw it and bought a corded one.. I have plenty of long extension cords and got tired of messing with the batteries. Plus I'm already using the cord for the leaf blower.

Granted, the cordless wasn't high end, but I really only use it to edge and some other minor stuff, and don't even have sidewalks, so the edging is minimal.
