Does the tune architecture (diablo, SCT, etc) matter?

I'm very familiar with Jerry Wroblewski and his work while at FORD and SCT.

Definition of strategies for specific processors have always been the biggest issue for all tuning software. You can't tune what you can't see. If the line of code was never defined, it will never even show up in the software. unless you open the specific bin in ME, know the line of code you are looking for, and change it.

The strategy definitions came some what naturally to SCT. I'm sure Jerry's engineering back ground from Ford was a big step in the success of what SCT is today.

15-20 years ago, all this shit was voodoo. PCM Tuning was black magic, performed by a witch doctor!

Yep you are 100% correct - There is a reason SCT is the king when it comes to tuning fords.

Thank god I tune gm's and have hp tuners. Support for 1,2,and 3 bar map sensors. True ve tables with full resolution under boost and vac. Speed density and maf support, wideband logging...1000rwhp turbo cars with perfect drivability and a stock computer

Ryan - I've been there and done that with poor driveability. Nothing is more frustrating. I had a good tune in place on my old '97 and it drove great. Then I had a bad tune on it down the road and it would stall and surge a lot.

Who tuned your car? I've got an SCT chip in my '92 that Manny tuned on the dyno. Although my car is a mild setup (GT40 heads, Crane Cam, Explorer Intake, Longtubes, etc) it drives like a stock '92. No surging, bucking, stalling, etc. Even with the cam having a nice lope at idle it idles at about 850 rpms.

Maybe let someone else tune your car and / or try SCT in place of the Diablo chip. There is no reason your Cobra shouldn't have stock like driveability.

I will ALWAYS use SCT due to their customer service. Read HERE for more information.

Short version. I got a free SCT chip because of a fraudulent company's failed promise. SCT didn't have to, but they did to keep up customer satisfaction/face and earned themselves a customer for life.

That is saying something in the performance/auto world for sure. Most just try to hide it in clouds and lies.

I'm definately open to options, either taking it back to who previously tuned it or others who i have seen vouched for as quality tuners here. Lots of things could be affecting the tune and why its not right,so im not willing to nail it down to the tune when it could be something else.

Just current things that drive me crazy right now are the off-idle sensitivity (hanging and very difficult take offs with the twin-disk) and the stalling when it fails to catch idle when it hangs up around 2000rpms and then drops. Other bits of the tune i can "live with".

Seems a lot of y'all are pretty happy with SCT!
