    Carb flooding

    Went to the track today missed the cruise but got there after for some reason my car would launch hard but within 60 ft it would fall on its face and flood it's frustrating !!!!! Lol
    carb was rebuilt its a holley 750 double pumper I'm gonna get it out to brooks this week let him get his hands on it and see what he can figure out just thought I would share any opinions of what the possible problem could be
    I'm also thinking of goin back to efi if this can't be fixed luckily my harness is still under the hood

    Motor must be pretty healthy to need a 750 double pumper

      Needle sticking, float level too high?? What fuel pump are you running? Can you see fuel pressure? Maybe it's too high?

        There's an external elec fuel pump I believe a holley fuel pressure is at 6.5 lbs

          I know that when an alternator is undercharging it can sometimes cause the pump to be weak from low voltage and thus fp might suffer. Wonder if the opposite could happen if voltage spikes.. Might check it out. Just an idea of something to check.

                It shouldn't cause the pump motor to spin much more rpm than it would at the line or during normal driving. If it launches hard, it's probably not the pump (especially if he is revving up or foot breaking at the line). Are you 100% sure it is flooding? You sure you're not running lean? Does your engine need a 750 double pumper and if so, is it jetted to give it enough fuel? From what I remember from other people, it should have a little bit more fuel pressure than what you're seeing. Not 100% sure on that one though.

                  Rick, I am reasonably sure it's not flooding. I'd be willing to bet that your driving style is causing the car to bog and take a while to recover.

                  If it's flooding, it will likely die and you'll have to restart it - did you do any of that?

                  The 750 will work fine on that car, but is not 'optimal'.

                    I think I figured it out my fuel pressure was below 6 psi so I'm gonna try turning up in .5 increments and see how that does

                      Fuel pressure won't do anything for what you're experiencing. (not in this case at least. Now if it were HIGH, then it would be a problem)

                        join your bowl vents with a hose and put a slot in the top of the hose

                          Went to see brooks and I'm pretty sure he has it nailed need to get my gears installed and a few more tweaks so next month it's scheduled to be in brooks shop to be fixed can't wait lol
