  • 1/4 window trim and headliner sound deadening.

So I pulled the 1/4 windows to re seal them and want to try and fix the molding. Filler primer, sand and paint?

The head liner insulation was trashed, it looked like potting soil. Will the roof always sound hollow? Any cheap light alternatives?

    This is a mess!

no headliner just means less weight, and one step closer to race car.

Lol. The insulation they used in 1991 has gotten to the point that it looks like dirt. Had to fix that shit

if the pitting is not too bad on the 1/4 windows then a good quality primer might take care of it. if pitting is bad then you might have to take some glazing putty to them. sand, prime and paint. I've done several sets in my time for people and it really just depends on how bad they are whether they are worth saving or not.

I was under the impression that stuff was kind of heavy? I'm a Jew when it comes to adding weight for comfort. Don't have enough power for that.

Where all did you dynomat? It made a big difference?

For the sound deadening, PM EW. I have a bunch in my fox, and its a HUGE difference, but its not a race car. The stuff is heavy, so you may not like it for that reason.

I too, have seen mixed results on repairing the quarter trim on these cars. Sometimes it looks great, other times, not so much. Its worth a try though, not a lot of money to experiment.

Late model Resto has some pretty nice window and trim replacements that arent bad price wise, if you can live without the mustang logo on the windows. If you want the logo, they're a little more pricey! I've also seen those trim "caps" they sell, I personally wouldn't waste my money on those.

Good luck, hope yours turn out good.

When I did my cougar, I went to home depot, into the HVAC section and found a roll of stick on duct insulation. Bout 1/16th of an inch thick and did it's job well. Think it was 8 bucks a roll and 3 rolls did the entire floor and roof.

ebay. Ive got three boxes in my car

People crack me up when it comes to saving weight. Have you ever driven in a stripped out fox. Is it really worth it?

My car feels 100x more solid with it.

every interior panel of my coupe has it. from the firewall to the roof

A Bulk pack of dynamat extreme weighs 16lbs. Thats 9 sheets.

Ive prolly got 50lbs of dynamat evenly spread across my whole car. Totaly worth it imo.

I used the hvac stuff from Home Depot. Worked great.

Filler primer came out okay. Needs some massaging.
