  • Started the car - couple of issues, thoughts?

Swapped motor with a used one from another car I had, installed Vorech V3, motor has an E cam, relocated battery to the rear of the car, wire tuck, and replaced the tilt column with another one. 255 in the tank, replaced the cluster, and all bulbs in it.

Started it up yesterday and have 3 issues...

    1. No oil pressure on cluster. Tried 2 different clusters, no change. Gauge stays at or below 0. Pulled the sender and put a test gauge on it and verified that I DO have pressure, just no indication on the cluster. Any way to troubleshoot this? Don't want to replace the sender if there is something else causing it.

    2. Fuel gauge isn't reading correctly... One cluster shows empty, the other shows full. There should be a little less than half tank in there...

    3. Starter hangs for about a second after starting. Seems to be pretty consistent. The starter solenoid is fairly new (2 years?), and its an SN95 starter. I'm thinking it might be the ignition switch in the replacement column I installed?

For the oil pressure issue. . Check the wire lead the presses on the sending unit. Give it a small squeeze with some pliers. At one time mine looked like it was on, but it was very loose. Gauge worked again.

on your starter hang issue, are you still using a stock style solenoid to actuate the solenoid on the sn-95 starter? I remember a conversion I messed with that was hanging up similar to what you are describing, it ended up being something in the way the wiring was done.

Yes however the sn95 starter has been on the car for over a year now with no issues... moved everything and the issues started.

make sure you have a good solid ground system; you need a solid ground from the battery to the motor, battery to body, and body to engine.

UPDATE: Determined part of the starter issue... started a new thread about it.

Checked all main grounds, everything looks good.

Anybody know of any troubleshooting steps for the cluster?
