  • Gooseneck hitch installation?

I have a b&w turnover style that I need installed in my dodge. Ive seen the install vids on youtube, and it looks really straightforward, claims that it takes a bit over a hour to do.

I've called a couple places around town, one guy wasnt listening and quoted me a new hitch, with a free install, but when I asked for JUST installation cost, he wanted $150 less than the other quote. Another place quoted $375 for the install.

Any recomendations, or anyone that can do it? I dont mind paying, but I'd rather not take a russian boot on the deal.

Could. Its a bolt in deal, no cutting, drilling or welding involved other than the big hole in the bed, and I dont have the holesaw. I could buy it, but Id rather someone that has it and can knock it out one day do it for a bit of cash.

Gotcha. I guess they are just used to installing them for people with big ass 5th wheel campers that have money to blow.

I think it is many times built into the sale of the hitch, so the profit is split up to make the install sound better. $500 installed if you buy it from us, $375 if you don't. Hitch msrp is around 400

                  Either 4 or 5 inches.

5 inch is what I used I believe. The instructions make it a pretty straight forward deal. I cut the hole in the bed while it was off the truck (was truck assembly after paint and body), bolted the hitch to the frame then we set the bed on it. The measurements for in the instructions were pretty well spot on. I think they called for a 4 inch hole but my friend didn't have that size. Had a buddy that installed one with the help of a friend took them about and hour and half. I think he said at the time the guy he talked to was doing them for $150, but it's up near Lake texoma

Google what instalation costs, people had paid anywhere between 90 and 300. 150 is fair, just can't get a quote for that from the places I've called. The hitch is a heavy bitch, too.

Yeah they weigh a few pounds for sure. Hell the ball itself is a chunk of weight. I had a plate in the truck before, rarely ever used it and hated that I couldn't lay anything flat in the bed so I invested in a b&w during my freshen up of the truck after being hit. 150 sounded pretty reasonable I thought also. It really isn't too bad of a job, they've done a pretty nice job making them fit and the instructions were pretty straight forward. If its a 2wd, take into account suspension sag with the ball upside down as it sits directly over the differential. I leave mine in the tool box, I don't think I'd compress the rear enough with my overloads bit didn't want to risk it.

getting the hole in the right spot is the hardest part. I have a hole saw, fuc* a plasma for that job, bedliner or not

The mounting holes in the brackets are slotted some, they allow you to center the hitch in the hole. By using a slightly larger hole saw it gave me plenty of clearance for mine.
