  • 2012 GT500 tr-6060?

Has anyone ever dealt with or heard of anyone that had issues with 1-2 shifts on hard acceleration? I'm reading up that there's issues with it which is kind of making me turn away from buying a used one.

Everything I've read is its not a tranny problem, but a clutch quadrant "problem"... You have to push the clutch ALL the way to the floor for a smooth 1-2 shift. Most people are short clutching trying to grab 2nd faster than their capabilities allow...

It has less than 5k miles on it. Might just get an upgrade kit for my 3650 now. Will have new 26 spline input shaft and gears, etc. Guess that's a tremec for you.

Just looking around for a used one. Reading up on it and they say I would have to get a new driveshaft to go with that tranny. Used one I found had clutch and flywheel to go with it. My issue is all the issues I am reading about on the 1-2 shifting. All say different reasons. This will be going on on my 06'.

Nah man. My 06' is getting a major upgrade pretty soon. So looking around on other stuff I need to upgrade to go with it. I would run it on tranny I have now, but 2nd gear is going out. Deciding on rebuilding it with better hardware or getting anither transmission.

I like my '05 GT, but I'm scared of its transmission even though it's still good. I've had 3 different tr3650s in the mach and all of them have been trash. I'd go with a TKO before building a 3650

There is an upgraded syncro ring available for the Tr6060 which is suppose to help up shifts. I just did an upgrade on a Z06 a few weeks ago. On top of that, with the hydraulic clutch, it has to be spot on. If not, it becomes a headache. I wish Ford would have retained the cable system.

The TR3650 has always had issues with the 3rd gear syncro ring. Other than that, its not a bad box.

Did you replace/upgrade all the internals? Been thinking of getting the upgraded input shaft and new synchros

Mine is 100% box stock minus a hurst billet shifter. It's held up great so far.

yea, you and a couple other I know run stock tranny. Only problem on mine is the synchro is going out on 2nd gear, which is my fault. Due to $$ constraints, trying not to spend too much $$ right now. If I can get away with just new synchros and maybe input shaft since it will be open, along with new clutch, I'm thinking I can run this for at least another 3 years with no issue. Or maybe just new synchros. After those 3 years, I'll do the full work project on it.
