Ranger Brake Issue

GF's Ranger has a strange intermittent brake issue.

When braking the front brakes seem to not engage fully, then all the sudden it grabs hard. She says it happens more when the brakes have water on them.

Recently the front brakes and rotors were replaced with Duralast stuff.

Possible air bubble? Not sure since it happens more when wet...

Good place to start at least.

Visually inspect the calipers for any issues, replace the hoses and completely bleed / replace the fluid and see where that gets you (assuming it's an older truck). Also see if it looks like pads are wearing unevenly (as in more material gone on the inside pad vs the outside) to indicate possible caliper issues.

Bleed the system and inspect calipers for seal damage around the piston. Best method is to start from the caliper that is furthest away and bleed, working your way to the drivers front. Be sure you do not let the reservoir run dry or you will have to bleed the master and abs block because air bubbles will form in the lines

I had to change both front calipers on my ranger

Mines a 91, both fronts at different times started binding and not releasing, I eventually changed both fronts. solved it.
