My 84 has a 305 in it and it has a small summit cam and edelbrock intake and carb and full exhaust. With electris fans. Its still a slow pig. Even with a converter and shift kit it only ran a best of 10.04 at kennedale. Lol. Bitch probably makes like 150hp at the most.. But it also has 2.73 gears in the rear end.

what all do I need to do a summit cam? I can definetly get the heads ported and do an edlebrock lower.

Why are you insisting on wasting money on the 305? None of that is going to make an appreciable difference; it's just throwing money out the window. Save it and do something responsible with the money, or save it for a real motor. I've watched someone try and throw money at a 305 before and it doesn't go anywhere. Ever.

This is true!! Lol. I should of never tried to do anything to my 305. Granted it has less than $500 in it. But still. Lol. Ive thought about doing a 335 and all that shit. But it aint worth it. Lol. Do a 350 swap. Itll be worth it. Put some LS1 fans on it though and take that gay clutch fan off. Lol

All i had to do was take the old cam out and put the new one in. Lol. Its wasnt a big cam at all. At the most its a 442 lift. Sounds very good when it cold as shit out side. And it costed me like $60. Bought it off a friend who went with a bigger cam in his truck. But shes sitting right now. Havent drove it for 8months. Its waiting on a 5.3 or 6.0 swap.

If you decide to get rid of the 305 that's in it, get me a casting number, I may take just the block from you.

                  What's an "edelbrock lower"?

                  Cam + lifters = $100
                  +port work
                  +edelbrock lower

Add all that up and see if it doesnt compare in cost to a 5.3 swap.

                      Its a 305 with a 350 crank and rods i believe, bored 30 over. 335 stroker.

Pretty sure the 305/350 have the same factory stroke, 305 is a smaller bore.

Im assuming its the aluminum intake. Since the cast iron ones weigh like 50lbs

                            A 305 with a 350 crank is still a 305. Maybe a 327 .060" over?

Yeah, 3.48" with some dumb, small bore (smaller than the 283 or 307's 3 7/8"). I think the difference is the way the cranks are balanced.

305's have a factory 3.736 bore and 350's have a 4" bore. The cranks and rods are all 5.7 long, and they are balanced differently. Both have a 3.48" stroke.

Well Im not sure what kinda crank you use then to make a 335s. But there are 335 stroker kits..

POWERHOUSE has thousands of stock and high performance parts for cars and trucks. The world's absolute lowest prices since 1985.

                                Not worth it though...
