I totally agree, that is why I put it in quotes. It is not a true floating deal but really close and actually has more redundancy built in.

Yep, shit like tailights and headlights can ground to chassis for all I care. My engine electronics go to battery via as big a cable that makes sense.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

You are correct. I am guilty of calling it a "floating ground" myself. My point however, I ground ECU, Coils, Engine Position Sensors, injector driver and a few other EFI items directly back to the battery apart from the ground my block, alternator, starter and chassis uses. Fuel pump and electric vacuum pump in the rear of the car ground to battery at the same junction the battery grounds to chassis only out of convenience.

I understand what you are saying. In an attempt not confuse anyone, you are in all actuality grounded the block to the battery, not the battery to the block. In a floating groung system everything is grounded to the neg post on the battery.

Ok, made changes including the ones you mentioned. Thoughts?

looks bought right. I think, plan, draw, powerpoint and then when I get hands on, changes are always inevitable. Be flexible.

I am doing a pretty big rewire of my entire car. My last draft files of what I think is what I need are getting plotted out on several copies at Kinkos on large sheets so I can doodle and make notes. But I am OCD to the fucking extreme and changing so much from the factory and trying to make it all function like stock is hard to trace later if you have issues. Always keep good notes. I consider NOTES to be a tool and they have their own deep drawer in my physical tool box. That and my files on a thumbdrive. Again, I am OCD too.

this may be a dumb question and already covered but why even mess with the solenoid in the trunk? seems like you're adding another variable.

How else would I wire the starter up?

On that starter we wire it just like a chevy deal. positive to the solenoid on the starter and the signal wire from the key to the signal post.

So the starter signal wire can run straight to the red and blue stripe wire that comes from the ignition switch?

Ok, so after further research, the purpose of the starter solenoid is so that the long run of 1/0 is only hot during cranking. Bypassing the solenoid would mean the wire is hot at all times...

That can power everything at the front of the car. (At least that is what I do) you would have to run the alternator wire to the battery side of the cutoff switch so it will be cut off too. I mainly wire race cars so I look for ways to eliminate as much wiring as possible and still maintain system integrity.

I'm not sure of the colors. I don't have a schematic for a mustang.
