  • LS7 Longblock

Trying to gauge the value on an LS7 Longblock. Came out of a 2008 Z06, 15k miles. Cylinder 1&2 dropped the head off the exhaust valve. All Titanium rods are in excellent shape, heads can be machined, crank is in great shape, 7 pistons survived, 2 cracked sleeves, and cracked aluminum from block at the bottom of the sleeve.

I got a quote from Race Engine Developments for $2000 to fix and resleeve the block with Darton Dry sleeves. I was planning on spending a few grand and rebuilding for a fox body build, but wasn't able to capitalize on the car.

Ls7 is not my friend. You can make more power reliably with a ls3. 700 is safe for a little while, 750 is a ticking time bomb.

One idea was to get a good used LS2 or LS3 and have it machined and resleeved for the LS7 rotating assembly, topped off with the ported LS7 heads and a decent cam, I would be happy with 550ish rwhp in a N/A fox

So trying to be a cheap ass, since I have a good set of LS7 heads, and rotating assembly (minus forged pistons) what is the best route to take?

Sell it, start over. Ls3 (6.2) go for less then 3500 all day long.
