  • Sears warranty on air tools

Anyone have any first hand experience with it? I've never had a problem with broken ratchet or socket or even a bent wrench, but this is a 1/2" impact gun that I bought about three or four years ago that only gets used for lug nuts about two or three times a year for tire rotations. It seems to have lost power, I can even stop the socket from spinning with one hand as I hold the trigger down. most of the time it just won't spin at all, I have to hit the reverse and then back to drive just for it to spin.

    ideas?

Is it a Craftsman brand or one of the other brands they sell? Most of their stuff other than the lifetime warranty hand tools has a 1 year warranty.

It's a craftsman. Sounds like I'm SOL on this.

Craftsman's warranty is only for hand tools, unfortunately.

Is there an obviously blockage in the inlet?

Most pneumatic impacts have an adjustment also, even the cheapies. Just try turning it up.

I'll check for blockage in the morning. As far is turning it up, it's a 3 speed forward, 3 speed reverse, and I usually keep it on the highest speed all the time

X2 you're supposed to put a drop of air tool oil every time you use it i believe.

while I don't oil it every time I use it, I do oil it regularly. at least every other time that I use it.

Sounds like one or more of the vanes is sticking and letting the air go right through. Take it apart and see. It's not that hard. We used to have rebuild kits at Sears .
