Cam phasers were changed about 40k ago and this noise was going before then but not as bad as it is now. I got all the lash adjusters and rockers and the tool to remove them without removing the cam, however this only works for the rockers not the lash adjusters. Since we couldn't find this tool tonight I decided to go ahead pull the TC cover, this will also give me a chance to check the chains and guides which were replaced with the phasers.

Phazers are common. Ive seen some kill followers and also break valve springs. Best bet is to open and inspect. Dont spend all that money on parts unless you have to

Yes the phasers are very common to make noise, but so are the lash adjusters. and if you have 1 bad phaser do not cheap out only replace just 1. With all the work involved to get to the phaser you may as well do both as timing chains, tensioners and guides. Yes it can be costly but it is cheap insurance. The total time it took me at the house was around 24 hrs off and on.
