  • 351 Windsor or 302

My buddy has about 2k to build a 7.0 car. What would you Guys do. We have about 2k to spend on a short block. Would you just get a junkyard 351w and put all new guts in and and make it a 357 with a decent head and a plate. Or would you get like a 347 stroker short block. I know with alot of nitrous the 302 block will split. Would still like to drive on the street so would be some that is hydrolic lift to.

Mine is an old solid flat tappet 347 and drive it on the street. But once it goes I'll be building a 351.

351 with some twisted wedge or afr 185's and a good cam a victor Jr. Intake with a c4 behind it should get you 7.0's

A roller 351W short block is a great way to get it done cheap. I'd put some new bearings in it, a new oil pump, oil pump shaft and timing set. Slap some heads on it, a used roller camshaft spec'd close to what you need and give it a shot.

I made 1,000hp on a stock 94 block with no girdle. The mains were fine but the cylinders can't hold 30#'s of boost constantly. A decent motor will run run 7.0's no problem. No need for a bottle to run that class.
