  • Transmission options besides glide/6 spd

So, I'm getting to the point of buyin shit, and I am going to start off using a twin disc and my TKO because it will eventually just be swapped into the vert. But when I turn the wick up, I don't think a 6 spd is going to last long, and a glide is going to be boring on the street...

What are the fast cars doing if they don't want glides? I want a ProStock style Liberty but I heard they won't work in a normal weight car? What kinda bs is that? Lenco? Bruno? Richmond side loader? What will handle some gd beans w/o gernading underneathe me? A Keith Neal Glide and Chance converter are a winning combo, I just don't really want to go there if there is another option equally as strong.

No matter how fast light travels it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

You can buy these used for around $2500. Full clutchless upshifts, magnesium case, they also have reverse cut dog teeth on both sides so the stay in gear on decel. 900hp in 3400 stock cars wont break them coming off a jack during a pit stop.

About 14-1500rw if I don't spray it. I think it'll need a kit for down low to help spool, but I will try it without first.

Btw I have a TKO hybrid already. Its a 500 with a 26 pline I/S which basically makes it a wide ratio 600... The strength of the gears is the same according to Tremec, only differences is the input shafts and gear ratios between the 500/600s.
I want a Magnum, but don't think it will do much better than my TKO power wise.

That helps mpg on the hwy, still doesn't change the long boring 1st gear. Not saying I won't end up with it, just hoping for a more fun transmission. I know Billy Glidden had a Liberty and it 60'd like a god damn m'f' but it prob weighed like 2200 lbs

Oh thats a lot more power than I thought. You only mentioned a TKO in your first post so I figured you meant the old TKOs with a 350lb ft capacity.

I will tell you the magnum is a massive step up from the 600. They are based on upgraded tr6060 internals. Had one behind my 700rwhp turbo gto and it was butter smooth and never missed a beat. I don't know how long it'd last behind that much power though!

Brian, since you've been racing a while, wouldn't it go just as fast with a Glide? A certain Firebird owner we both know says fuck T400s and a Glide is lighter faster and better... I've done the homework on that, I just would really love to do a stick or shifting type trans (IF I CAN)... Watching ProStock on TV in car looks like a shit ton of fun vs clicking the shifter once at the 300 foot mark. Heh

                              I wouldn't know..

But I drove my Stang around town a LOT and having it slipping the converter and hardly shifting it cruising sounds boring... Would hate to spend 6-8 k and find out I was right and hate the car.
