  • Nitto NT 05R's on the street

I picked up a couple of Nitto's NT 05R's (315/35/17) for $180 a piece. I wasn't expecting much but I they seem to do just as good than the MT ET Streets that they replaced.

Setting one is under 700 (I don't know exactly) but yes, it did spin a little on the two - three shift. But then again, that was only a few minutes of getting them on the road and I didn't have them heat cycled (not even sure if heat cycling does anything, I wasn't going to pay 15 bucks for it)

Surprised that your non Dr's stuck at all. I have a set of NT05's right now and they slide all over the fuckin place unless they're heated up really well. With no trips to the track, a good alignment, and everyday driving mine are shot with only 14k on them. Fuck that shit. I really wish a decent 315/35/17 wasn't so damn expensive.

I use the NT05Rs in 315/35-17 in the rear and a 275/40-17 in the front. I would not expect them to last long on a daily driver. They are a soft compound tire designed for max traction. So far I don't have any complaints but I only have about 800 miles on them.

275/40-17 Nitto NT05 for the fronts

They're working for you better than for me. Mines an 02 GT, 4.10's, regular old 5 speed. If I nail it in first I can keep them spinning like I'm on a wet road. I'm not even over 275 at the wheels. Now if I get them nice and hot they bite hardcore, besides that, nothing.

For example, I downshifted to 3rd at around 60 and nailed it on the highway today and they broke loose. At my hp level that should be FAR from what happens.

Out of curiosity, what psi did you normally run them. I keep mine at 35.
