I have a seat of worked over 1965 289 Heads. Large valves pocket ports etc. They have been sitting for about 3 yrs though if your friend is still wanting to buy them.

What's the order of prefered 302 heads?

gt40's and gt40P's will out flow the old 351 d00 thr d5 the ports have a much better shape ie more flow and velocity. The gt40's also have hardened valve seats, and if you step up to chevy 1.94, 1.60 valves you have a set of heads that will flow as much as a lot of aftermarket heads. The old 289 heads with the heart shaped comb. chambers will work quite well, but they need bigger valves, hardened seats, studs replaced, and usually new guides. Another good head is the roush/world head, I bought a set for $400 with a nice port job, big valves, good springs, ready to go.
