  • 4.6L 2V PCV catch can question

So I've come to realize that 2V 4.6L V8's with there passenger side mounted PCV valves tend to recirculate oil into the throttle body and cause the engine to burn it.

I have read that some people have made their own catch cans for this very reason. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to make a catch can? I'm not looking for a pre made can from some distributor, but a DIY can that works.

(Looked into the throat of my TB and noticed an nice coating of oil... I have since replaced the PCV with a motorcraft PCV and all new lines. Apparently a new reworked PCV valve. Still not bullet proof)

    Thanks. (4.6L W code or Romeo V8)

Air compressor water separator and some pcv tubing. That's about all you need.

$17 ebay universal catch can + $2 worth of hose.

You'll spend the same or more DIY.

      Works perfect.

Just an update. Its been 4 months and one change and the catch can is apparently keeping the oil out of the intake. Impressed. Thanks again for the advice on the ebay universal can.

Good deal. Glad it's working out for you. I checked/drained mine around 1K mile intervals. Usually, 3 - 4 ounces worth in the can that's no longer going into the intake.

What do you do with the old oil? Just put it in a bucket?

            Sent from a bathroom.
