possible not the ho firing order?
Aim rotor facing fire wall for plug #1. Have some one twist dizzy either direction while you crank it.. if that doesn't work, try moving rotor 1 tooth either way and try again..

something is missing in your timing/firing order. Pop in the intake means its too far advanced, pop in the exhaust means its too far retarded. The wrong firing order can do either though, so dont let it confuse you.

ok...now thinkin on this.....more back story. bought a rebuilt long block that was said to be a 90 fox mustang engine that had been rebuilt...... well before i dropped it into my truck at the time i swapped cams on it....had a confirmed 87 sd cam that i put in it....gave it alittle more lobe then the mass air cams. i took that cam since it was in great condition....possible regrind and put it in this motor thats in my stang now.... i wonder if the cam that was in that motor wasnt a HO mustang cam.........hard to tell with motor all in........

If you are in the Fort Worth area I'd be more than happy to help you out. Definitely sounds like a timing problem.

the only real ass kicking I was involved in helping with where there was the HO vs non HO issue was on a truck engine. The customer bought a reman long block and installed himself, had it in the truck and running, but not running correctly. The builded told him he was to use the HO firing order and provided it to him. Long story short after a lot of hand banging and chasing dead ends the problem was that the truck had a non HO cam.

The point of the story is that the truck ran on 4 cylinders with the incorrect firing order. When you compare the 2 firing orders, 4 cylinder DO NOT CHANGE, they are in the same location. Given my experience, if the distributor is dropped in correct location and the timing is remotely close, the incorrect firing order should still allow the motor to half ass run.

Just my experience and 2 cents.

im out in sanger...near northstar dragway

well even when i changed it to non ho firing order i wasnt getting anything....but that was before i swapped injectors and redid the seals on them....maybe it may fire off with the non ho firing order...... also i was doing some checklist of no start condition....how big a part does the tps sensor play in starting....i know i had to swap TBs when i was putting this all together....didnt calibrate it when i put it on.....was reading that if its way out of wack it cuase the injectors to quit working....but im kinda ruling that out since my #1 plug is wet with fuel after a few cranks........

car is being a beating...........anyone want a low milage coupe, lol.

Do you have the ground strap attached to the motor. This will cause a non start. I forgot it before and exxperianced this same thing
