Loctite, thread sealant and lifter question.

What all bolts need thread sealant or loctite?

What's the torque spec on the cam bolt?

On the lifters, there is a notch in "race" where it rides in the bore on the block. Does that face towards the inside of the block or the outside? Or does it matter since they are oiled from the sides?

The cam plate bolts, any special attention need to be taken there? I was eery of over tightening them. So I just got it snug and did a 1/2 turn.

In my Ford shop manual, torque for camshaft sprocket gear is 40-45 ft lbs, camshaft thrust plate to block is 9-12 ft lbs.

I don't use Loc-tite on any bolts. Put 30w oil on the threads of the top head bolts and silicone on the threads of the lower bolts before you torque them. I also run a tap through all the head bolt holes on the block before bolting the heads down.

Also lifter placement doesn't matter

That's what I needed to know! I have Liquid thread sealant for the lower head bolts. I knew none of the bolts had loctite from the factory but I wanted to make for sure.

And; good I didnt want to remove the lifters

The cam bolt and retainer bolts need Loctite. Be sure that the lifter valley tray bolts aren't too long - they can bottom on the cam bearing, and that makes a mess.
