I pulled the engine out of another car to put in my 87. I have a feeling the one in the 87 is tired. Burns oil, rear seal is leaking (Again) doesn't pull worth a shit over 4500 rpm, doesnt even rev close to the middle yellow area, etc. Just seems tired to me. Its a completely stock, non-HO motor.
I plan on replacing it with one that has very low miles, less than 10k, has a B cam with matching springs (old I know), but has sat for a while. I ran it a few times, but regardless, it sat for a while.
What can I do to make sure it's healthy before I swap them? Its on a stand right now... leakdown test? If so, is the kit from Harbor Freight sufficient for this? Should I pull anything apart to inspect? Or just leakdown and post up results?
