No shit. Can still see cross hatching? I don't believe.
Oh no, I didn't know the auto ignition temperature of diesel. I was just trying to say it's irrelevant to the matter at hand.

Except it's not. He tried to blame his detonation problem on a bad valve stem seal, but what he didn't realize is that motor oil has both a higher flash point (a lot higher) and a higher autoignition point. The two are not the same, and are not interchangeable. If anything, the oil helped him out.

First time I've seen that in an engine in that shape. I'm willing to be wrong.

If you're referring to the dark sports on the first gasket on the outside cylinders, that the lighting/where the gasket material came off.

                Other then that ??

Have fun with the rebuild. I think the gaskets look ok. On mine it was freakin obvious. One of the pistons looked like it was getting a steam bath(no carbon buildup).

Dude, stock type rebuilds are cheap, yank out the block take all the parts down to your local trusted machine shop and have it rebuilt. You're going to put the hose to it, and unless you want to yank the heads off again, have it rebuilt. I bet they'll even put the heads on for you if you ask kindly.

It has a lot of miles, obviously but other then the carbon build up it looks fine, it looks like it's missed a few oil changes. I think it'll last long enough until I get something else in the car.

Did you do a compression test on the engine? How many miles?

I just don't want to spend $ on a stock rebuild to me that's a waste.

Will it last forever? No. Will it last a while? Yes. Is it going to boom bitch!? Let's hope not!

                              No but I should have.

Odo says 94k so, my guess is 194k.

Thats the spots I was referring to, I'll post a close up of those spots tomorrow. I'm tired of putting my shoes on to go to the garage.
