Get the gallon bucket of Berryman's carb cleaner, and put each piston/rod in there one at a time. Don't bother with the aerosol shit. Let it soak in the little bucket for an hour or so, and then clean it off with a brass wire brush. Wear GOOD gloves, that shit will tear up your hands and make you feel light headed. There will probably be gunk left in the ring lands. There is a specific ring groove cleaner that you can use, but chipping out the carbon with an old broken ring will work just as well. Just use a gasket scraper and a razor blade to get the old gasket material off.

You don't need to be so defensive, the old hot rodders here are enjoying watching you blow your shit up. We all did it before, that's why we find it so funny.

So take the time to point out what's wrong because I'm obviously missing something.

          • Here ya go: I don't know what I'm looking at, so if you see anything that would indicate a blown head gasket, feel free to post.

                        • Pardon my lack of mechanical skills and knowledge, but are you planning on using the gaskets again? or is this all banter to show it wasn't the gaskets to begin with.

I just don't want to reread this whole damn thread.

You don't reuse the head gaskets.
