  • 4r70w owning me

Swapped trannys out in my 2000 Mustang v6 and now I can't get the newer one to shift on its own and my Speedo wont work. Newer Trans came out of a 2003 v6. I used my old harness on the new Trans and swapped the sensor that connects to the shift linkage. Everything I've read suggests that I'm within the right year range to avoid the different operating system but still can't figure out what's up. Any help is appreciated

Does anyone have ANY advice or know someone who might be able to help me troubleshoot this?

they had some oss changes on those. did you change anything on the unit to make it work in your app?

To the best of my knowledge from my research on it they didn't change till 2004. I figure this would be a plug and go. Maybe I was wrong. How hard would it be to get this to work if it does need to be programed differently. Plans were to fix the car and sell it.

I think you are correct about the OSS hole differences and the programming is slightly different to match.

It will throw off the Speedo reading as well

They switched to an OSS after 01, yours should be a VSS., thus the difference.

Wont shift on its own. I can shift it manually. Speedo doesn't work at all

its starting to come back to me...the oss is in the rear of the main case. there should be a natural. plug in the tail/ext housing (natural colored) did you swap your vss into this hole?

they changed the oss sensor, but as he stated. I thought it was 03, but he thinks 04. If his harness plugged in, he has the right one. Just need the vss signal it sounds like

No sensor on the tailshaft of either transmission.

called mike and got a couple words out of him. the reluctor on the output shaft did make a change. There was a 6 tooth reluctor and a 12? i believe.

my own research, everything agrees with you.
up to 03 should have 6 tooth, even then the speedo should work (from what ive found) but wont be right and can be corrected with a custom tune. I think there may be something else missing in your equation...

                              sorry, not much help

                              swap the oss sensor yet?
