  • Are service manuals available online?

I need to replace my daughter's cv joints (actually both transaxles) on her 2004 Ford Focus automatic. I don't have a Chilton or anything for her car and was wondering if that kinda stuff is available online. I've seen people post up PDF's of service stuff for my 2012 Mustang, so I figured they were getting them from SOMEWHERE....anyways, if you have a clue on this, let me know! I've google searched and all I get are shady looking, potentially virus-infested, download options....

Register at Autozone.com, they have online manuals . I just looked at the 2004 Focus one, it's not the greatest, but not bad (and it's free).

I have never been able to find that manual online. I have a ton of others, just no focus ... sorry. Let me know if you find a good resource.

Honestly they pretty much come out like any other fwd car. Some hand tools a hammer and a pry bar should get it done. That's if you've done it before
Non tapatalk Sig so the butt hurt va-JJs can stop crying about not being able to turn it off.

I can copy axle replacement off alldata and e-mail it to you. Pretty easy job tho.

I ended up just buying a Chilton for her since it will probably prove to be a good investment. I'm probably going to have to do some more work down the road on it since it's a higher mileage car, so we'll have it. I was able to find some light descriptions on Autozone, but found the manual at O'Reilly. Regarding the transaxle replacement, I was trying to confirm the axle nut size and that nothing held the axles in place except that little clip. I believe I've determined it's a 32mm and just the clip holds them in.

I think there is a bearing retainer on the right side also.

Ah... that bearing usually makes noise.... Replaced tons of those

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

Its really simple. A air hammer with a point helps big time getting outer c/v joint loose

                        In dealership jobs... its gravy
