Tunes are over rated.
A tune doesn't proof an engine, nor will the tuner take responsibility if it blows up.
There was no knocking, and his wideband was showing 12:1 on the juice. It's in my opinion his head gasket was shit to begin with, as exhaust is pushed out the radiator with the cop off. The nitrous just finished it off, and created a nice vacuum leak to let unmetered air into the cylinder. His headers could have played into it as well though...
No tune would have saved that.
