  • 2001-2003 F150 Harley Trucks; need some info please!

Thinking of getting rid of the f250, its just more truck than I need. I have always liked the Harley trucks, and I can actually afford one now that they are 10 years old!

    Questions-
-What years have the crappy spark plugs, I think they're 2 piece? Do these older 5.4's have them, or did they switch later?
-I know these 5.4's can go the distance, but will the supercharged ones hold up as well?
-Fuel Mileage? I know they aren't hondas, not expecting it to be one. Just trying to know what to expect. I get 13-17 in my diesel, it can't be worse than that, can it?

Anything else you think I ought to know would be appreciated. I know a few on the board have owned one.

The fuel isn't great. It will probably be about the same as you're getting now. The problem is keeping you're foot out of it and not modding it. The 5.4 is the sc and NA 5.4 is the same internally.

The only problem with spark plugs on those trucks, would be blowing the plug out.

And when they start blowing them out you might as well fix all of them.

I've got a bud with one and that is the only problem he's really had.

My brother has a '02 and it has been a really good truck. About 15-16mpg, interior is badass, it's kinda quick too for what it is, I'd say get one.

blowing plugs out isnt a large concern. its not usually bad to fix, and can be avoided in most cases (imo) by performing a tune up PROPERLY.

they are a hypereutectic piston, I dont suggest bying a severely modded one unless you know the tune is RIGHT. Ive seen several exploded pistons from detonation
