  • Any BMW techs

I have a 745i with a weird headlight issue, at first I thought it was just the headlight bulb so I tried replacing it but the bulb was still good. Now i noticed my angel eyes do not work as well . The only thing working is the high beam and a small parking light that's about it. Wtf?? Any suggestions and they are HID

It's not likely that they both went out at the same time, but your angel eyes have a separate bulb from the main headlight. Check your fuses.

Yea. The dealer said angel eye bulb might just have gone out and the main issue ignighter or ballast. They were like just bring it in $$$$ lol

How hard is that job to do? What would a indy shop charge to do that?

My shop still charges about 20% cheaper than the dealer which is still kinda high, but if your a hands on kinda guy I could walk you through it, takes me about 30-45 mins to do both side so can't imagine it taking anyone any longer

Does the whole bumper def have to be removed? I have heard of a few people just removing the tires and wheel whells to get to the ballast. What do you think?

Not on this one, its faster and cleaner removing the head lights and that means bumper, I suggest doing both angle eyes while your in it, bumper is about 20 screws, not that big of a deal, it's faster to remove the whole thing

Many times, I think I was one of the first to do it in Dallas... Because when I did it had several techs after that call me and ask how it went, and they all work at different reputable Indy shops

Granted, the 7 series may be different, but I replaced the bulbs and ballasts in my M3 for hyperwhites, and everything is accessed through the panel at the top of the light housing. I replaced the turn signals as well, which have an access panel in the wheel well, the bumper and wheels didn't have to be removed, I just moved the steering wheel to get the tires out of the way.

Of course a dealership wants you to take it in, so that they can rape you on labor and parts. It's not that tough of a job.

water pipe is not hard as long you as you go the after market way. instead of disassembly of the the front of the engine, just the intake and replace with an expandable pipe.
there are way better vids but you get the idea
