  • 2002 Exploder Intake

Wives car and as soon as this is fixed it's going in the trash can.

On my way back from Dallas on christmas day this piece of junk started to run horribly. Noticed a huge vacuum leak when i got home. So big that the brakes were hard.

I pull the little cover off the throttle body and look at the intake and see a hole melted in it. Not broken, cracked but melted into the plastic. This is right where the EGR valve has the little pipe that points down stream of the intake.

I've had to put a new intake on and am going to put a new EGR valve on today.

My question is has this reared it's ugly head to any of you folks? What do you all think the issue is. Once I get this fixed I'm trading this piece of shit in on a new car.

Yes I realize its an exploder. Not worth fixing.

Common problem with that intake, I have seen it several times before.

      Is that the ohv engine?

I happen to have one sitting in my garage. It looks brand new.

If you need it lmk I'm not real attached to it. Been holding onto it in case someone needed it. Lol

And if it's the SOHC, I should have one lying around off from a 98.

            Here was my issue.

The drivers side cat was breaking apart and flowing on down to the back cat, causing it to clog. This was at least 80% or more.

            No onto changing intakes again.
