I need something stock, a 306 would be oka if it has decent pistons in it.

87-92 ho motors only, due to the forged pistons and my lust for nitrous.

Needing this to put my heads cam and intake on.
        I have a 306 roller motor $300!

I would understand it more if stock motor A was broken....but he's not saving any time and making anything more reliable building a 2nd motor. Just seems like a waste to me.

No shit, just do it on a day off.

That, or sell that brodix bullshit, and buy a running 5.3 and spend the rest on a swap kit.

Yep. The whole thing should be easily done in a day. I'm not sold on the swap deal.

X2. No need for a swap. I've got a stockish setup that works pretty good and is quicker than most in this thread. No need for all that other crap, just put it together, throw some juice at it and have fun.

It's a parts car. Needs more work than its worth. But still runs.

                        What ever happened to tphan?

He put together a 306 with forged pistons and arp rod bolts about 5 years ago for 450

Being that it's your only car, I would consider it an advantage to have a spare shortblock on hand. Many years ago I holed a piston in my only car, and it royally sucked taking DART to work while it was getting fixed. Never again.

As for the shortblock swap, I don't see any advantage, other than it'll be easier to bolt up the top end on a stand, unless you save up for a better rotating assebly for the new mill. I would think that the hassle of pulling the shortblock and reinstalling would more of a pain than leaning over the fenders, unless you've got the means to raise the car and drop the k-member and motor together. Swapping the block is an extra step however you do it, so it's not going to save any time doing it that way.

Listen to Yale, gather your parts, plan it out, and git 'er dun.

Why not do it the right way to begin with? Since you found your love of nitrous, why not build a proper motor to handle it? Instead you want to put a STOCK shortblock in??? Do yoh enjoy spending money on shit over and over again??? Just start saving and put all the pieces yoh gather in a corner until youcan do this right?

                            Just my opinion.
