Kooks X-pipe clearance issues

I'm trying to put my Kooks "universal" X-pipe on my '88 LX and it's hitting the crossmember mounts on the body. I've done research on this but can't find specific details on what people did to correct this. I'm wondering it there are some I can get at the junkyard to weld onto my car to move it out of the way of the X-pipe? Here are some pics.

i had the exact same issue with my lsx swap dynatech's. i ended up notching the mounts, didn't have any other options. yours look like you'd have to notch them heavily though.

That's what I'm afraid of, it looks like I'd have to notch it into the bolt hole.

Could you just notch the pipe, or is it far enough off that it would impede exhaust flow ?

Where are you at ? If it were mine I would just cut the pipe up with the trusty Porta-Band and after I got it away from the cross member, weld it back together.

I'd probably hurt exhaust flow, it looks to be about an inch and a half off. I'd hate to notch the pipe, I wish they made an exhaust system that bolts right up.

Why would they ever make one that fits, it takes all of the fun out of doing things yourself.

No shit lol it's really frustrating. All I need to do is this and a fuel system then I can fire it up.

Well that fucking sucks, pay all that money and shit doesn't fit, figures huh. I would trim a little bit of that bracket and the rest on the collector, it will not hurt the flow that much. Or send them back and buy something else.

I was thinking about trimming the mount as much as I could and see how close it gets, then modify the pipe too. The passenger side is fine and what really blows is I have $1,400 into my headers and X-pipe alone, I just wish it'd bolt right up.

it's like you need 1" drop mounts for your motor.

I don't want to go this route if I don't have to, the headers are already really close the the ground.

Torch,welder, and a hammer are the tools you seek.

Use a ball-ping hammer or body hammer to massage the pipe a little while heating it.
