  • best clutch for T45

The Orielly throw out bearing exploded after 500 miles of use on my brothers '99 cobra. It damaged the clutch, throw out bearing sleeve, pilot bearing, the ball, the fork, and of course the throw out bearing.

Which clutch will work best? I am very trusting in OEM Ford products, as aftermarket pieces caused this issue after all.

Are the ball (not sure what it is called, it is brass colored and sits by the clutch fork) and clutch fork interchangeable between the TR3650 and T45? If so, I can use one from the collection of transmissions/parts in the garage.

I use and sell Luk clutch kits for mostly stock to mild applications. Great product and are an OEM supplier to many different brands including Ford. The fork is the same between the T45 and TR3650.

Will this work? I am not 100% sure. Also, is the included pilot bearing trustworthy? If not, I'm going to order one form Ford.

My first aftermarket clutch I used in my Cobra was a Centerforce and that fucker blew up within a couple of months. Next time around I used a Ford Racing pressure plate and a McLeod disc if I remember right. Never had any issues with it for the rest of the time I owned the car. I'd stick with FoMoCo throwout and pilot bearings. Never had any luck with anything from the parts stores

^ I've heard that is a good combo. Unfortunately for us, his car has the 11", so we must go aftermarket due to Ford not producing that piece anymore.

Will a pivot stud from a tr3650 work on a T45? I may just have to compare them myself.

Pivot stud should be the same.
