  • Fox body Heater core- where to buy?

NAPA used to be the best ones, are they still?

They don't come with the restrictor usually, where can those be bought?

FoMoCo is the best, but stay away from Autozone and you'll probably be fine. Did someone take the other restricter out? Maybe Ford or wrecking yard.

Use a 1/4 socket for the restrictor

Considering it's a job I really only want to do once, I don't mind spending extra to get a real Motorcraft part. Have to figure the first one lasted 20+years, why mess around with a crappy piece that might fail in a year or two.

JEEZ!! I paid $20 from Doug Stanley Ford around 1996. I think they wanted $600 labor to put it in.

It's not that hard. I had a roll cage in my way too.

Thanks for the input folks. I agree, I think I'll go with the FoMoCo core. I just want to replace the restrictor, as I'm replacing everything else. I did this job 2 years ago, and no one had a core but O'riellys. Thought, how bad can they be? Installed it in the name of getting the car on the road. Lesson learned, I guess.

Napa core works fine. Fomoco is preferred. Fox heater core is a cake job. Takes a couple hours tops. No need to evac the ac

I've done it quite a few times now. I make it harder than it needs to be, pulling the dash, pulling the box, evacing the A/C, etc. I don't want to have to cut anything. This time, I'll be installing dynamat on the firewall, so gaining access is preferable. I have plenty of freon, so its not a big deal.
