Im really thinking this is the way to go. I hate to say it being a diehard ford guy, but for the power i can make its almost a no brainer.

seems like more people are looking for a 5.3 over the 5.7. any reason? Easier and cheaper to Find?

I've been wondering this same question, I work here at GM and the cores of those LS motors are ridiculous prices. I'm talking 2grand for a engine that needs a new cam, lifters etc etc. But around here not many salvage yards worth a damn. I would like to get one myself for a Nissan truck I've been working on. Hell, I've sold so many parts for one I can tell you everything you need to build and pull all the parts without even having to look it up.

<---Oh, and when that 4.6 blows or lets go, I will sell all the blower stuff and put an LS in that 07. I hate to say that but mod motors are expensive. 5.3 or 6.0 on the bottle will do just fine.

The 5.3's are everywhere. You can make good power on the 4.8's as well.

The 6.0's are best, but twice as much.

there was a thread that showed a twin turbo 5.3 making something like 1200hp a few days ago

let me see if I can find it

                            found it
NayNay posted it 5.3 Big Bang Test

                            1308hp

Running just 5.5 psi, the twin-turbo 5.3L produced 696 hp and 606 lb-ft of torque. Stepping up to 13.0 psi resulted in 930 hp and 806 lb-ft of torque, while 15.5 psi took us over 1,000 hp to 1,014 hp and 872 lb-ft of torque. Adjusting the manual wastegate controller to a peak of 18.3 psi brought 1,094 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque then 1,174 hp and 1008 lb-ft at 21.0 psi. A few more clicks of the controller upped the power ante to 1,245 hp and 1,056 lb-ft of torque and the highest boosted run of the day recorded an amazing 1,308 hp and 1,109 lb-ft of torque at 24.2 psi before the Big Bang finally came through.
