  • where to go and how much to pay, fuel filter replacement on a 1999 ford windstar 3.8

cant seem to locate the filter, i may be looking right at it but if i am its because if has some wierd black casing/cover it and i dont want to screw anything up, plus i dont have the ford fuel line disconnect tools so i thought i would ask whats a good price for replacment and where to go.

    thanks.

    Answer
It's approximately under the driver's door - a hose clamp holding it in place and two easy connectors.
    10 minute job to replace.
    Tools:
5/16th nut driver for the clamp,
needle nose pliers & slotted screw driver for the little plastic clips
    NOTES:
watch out for dripping gas - be prepared with rags & small container.
Chilton's recommends 30,000 mile replacement - 15K under severe conditions
    Cost is about $10-15
Test: blow into it - the more back-pressure, the more plugged up it is
** used mouthwash before kissing loved ones or smoking after conducting fuel filter test

it would take you longer to take it somewhere then to replace it.. and you don't need the tool

They might forget to pin it back in place though...

If you want to drive to cleburne I'll replace it for $15. It uses the same filter the F150's use. Should be on the inside of the frame rail on the drivers side.

I can't believe there are members of this board that can't do a fuel filter.
