solid post. i day dream about snagging a 302 bare block and just building over a period of time really slowly. like watching how to videos, writing down everything i took off and in what order, ocd style the first time, to see if i can get one to run and then go from there.

Teamjacob, call TrueStreet and say, "what do you charge labor-wise to install a clutch?"

            TrueStreet, reply with "$XXX.XX"

TeamJacob reply with "give me that amount as compensation and lets shut this bullshit down."

TrueStreet reply with "OK that's good. Let's drop this shit and go about our days."

... PM me when that's done and this dog n pony show also goes away. It's turned into a finger-pointing SNAFU and it's deplorable.
i'll do this in the morning. im still hopeful

how many shops throughout the years have had people screaming from the roof how badass they are, only for the shop to fizzle out the next week/month/whatever because they fucked people over and did shoddy work.
thank you. i've been irrational on this board many of times. ive bitched how somethings are double standard, got all butt hurt about a tag about my new born, plus fuck up enough capitalization and spelling to make a few english teachers want to slit their wrist but, this wasnt a knee jerk decision. i put a lot of thought into posting this and was careful to list all facts as they went down. i explored every other option i could think of. to be called a liar by T.S. is almost worse than just telling me to "fuck off, i'm not paying shit" I know if I did the work 100% correctly and i was a member of this board, I would be in here defending how I knew 100% i put the dowels in because "here is the day we ordered them" "here is the invoice from the parts store" etc etc etc. but my builder hasnt said anything and the owner has not provided anything except that i have my car list for trade now that its fixed, falsely state my car is still messed up, which i can drive up there and let him have it for a couple miles, and accuse me of blackmail, which i never understood that one but what ever

What if someone painted a football field, then you came and cut the grass for that field, and they weren't happy with it. The lines are no longer straight. Is it your place to repaint the field?

That's not chump change dude, that's 5500 bucks for work that appears to have not been done.

And why the fuck hasn't anyone spoken up on the paint/powder coat issue? Thats alone (if true) speaks volumes about the shop.

And the shitty part of all this? A few hours labor on the chin for the shop and people like me and everyone else in this thread wouldn't have the credibility of said shop on their mind.

                    • I will try to make this simple since it looks like some have not understood my post

                      Customer claimed a vibration.

Shop ask for the car to come in for us to check it out

Car comes in and finds out the motor has new pistons and connecting rods and was not balanced

Shop advised customer that they believe that is the problem.

Shop also advised if it turns out the problem is something else the shop made a mistake on they would cover it.

Customer filed law suit, customer called BBB and caused problems for said shop

again said shop said they would stand behind there work, but if the problems turn out to be motor related it would be on the customer...

Customer now claims there are dowls missing on flywheel, shop claims the dowls were there......

Did I mention we finished car and it took 4 months to get paid? Did I also mention we met customer at shop on Sunday (our day off) since it was his only day off.

There is a lot more to this story that is just not worth keeping this bashing of my shop alive. But please before bashing my shop true street...... Look at the history of teamjacob and his bashing of another shop not even a year ago with the same he said she said story...... Look at his track record of post and how he takes care of business. Then look at our track record. We are not perfect but we stand behind what we do and are customer reviews tell the story. Do some research before reading one thread and deciding if we are a trustworthy shop or not.

I get your point! But he gave them a motor to put in a car. You either do it right or you dont. Plain & simple!

Yes If I mess it up. Its my job to fix or pay someone to fix it. I learned not to weedeat a yard with assloads of Acorns cause they bust out windows & cost me money. But I busted the window & had to fix it! Thats good business

more than one person here has referred to him as a great guy and as stated on my email to him on the first page, they were all really nice. even when this problem came up and i wasnt being told what i wanted to hear, clint still at least did it in a nice professional manner for the most part. I wish he would think for a second, and ask himself, was this really the most elaborate scheme ever to defraud a shop out of money or integrity? or was there really an issue that was simply overlooked by there shop? one mistake doesnt make a shop a bad shop.
