clint pm'd me thisOriginally posted by TrueStreetMotorSports.comOriginally posted by TEAMJACOB(had to send in 2 pms, too long)
I hope that you can see where I'm coming from and can help me out. I am not one of these baller customers you have that have deep deep pockets, but i do love cars and being around the hobby. I know my $5400 bill is probably chump change compared to some of the customers you have but I did everything possible to make right on getting you guys paid and I would be the happiest guy if you guys did what ever had to be done to get my car right. If you'll consider it, please call me anytime at 817 938 7538.
thank you very much
chris
This is a very unfortunate situation. You brought us a car with a bunch of parts in boxes and a motor partially assembled. We pieced it back together and got you done. When the car came back I was told that there was an issue with it throwing all the bolts off the front of the motor (fan, water pump bolts, alternator ect.) I have seen this before and it is 9 times out of 10 its bad machine work. We removed the balancer and installed a new one to make sure. The new balancer was just as bad. So here's the deal we are in. We looked over the motor when you first brought it to. All seemed to be fine and we installed the motor. Now there is a problem with the motor and our educated guess is the machine work was not balanced correctly. Unfortunately, balancing is only something a machinist could properly check(In our opinion;this is what is causing the vibrations). This is nothing we did or could do since we are not a machine shop. You had this work done at another shop and paid for it there. The work we performed was done to specification. For us as a shop to take your car back apart for free for poor work that another shop did and we have no control over and have no idea who you used to preform the work would not be something we would be willing to do since all work preformed by us has nothing to do with bad machine work. If I was in your shoes I would be asking the place you had do the machining step up and pay for the car to be taking back apart so they can do their job correctly. I really hate when things like this happen. If you would like please give me a call and i would be happy to discuss further

so reading and reading and reading and visiting shops and pming members here how much to rebuild it based on clints educated guess and the more shops, mechanics, enthusiast i speak to, the more people are telling me to not give up and that it doesnt sound like a balance issue since it wasnt there at 1st, they didnt notice it on the dyno, it developed in the 1st 400 miles or so and it was not all the time but most of the time.
so i sent truestreet some certified letters trying to get this resolved and not drag it all out publicly

I see what you mean (I think) and I'm glad you eventually got it fixed. I'd chaulk it up to lesson learned. I've dealt with them and a few other shops in my past and once you have an idea what to expect you can be better prepared before you shell out any money.

a radiator

a belt tensioner
a belt
oil sending unit
throw out bearing
pilot bearing
clutch fork
rear main seal
plus the labor on everthing below oil sending unit and this i shouldnt have paid
for.

after receiving the letter, clint calls me and in a phone conversation i record (and am trying to figure out how to post up from iphone memos to here)
he says
1. if you dont know motor stuff, you shouldnt be in the hobby
2. it is in the short block and that isnt my fault
3. if it was anything i did, i would 100 percent make it right.
4. tells me to sue him if i want but he will bring character witness and get an attorney and sue me instead.
In this same audio, I ask him if they can just back the tranny off and look since they had issues with the clutch and also they had mentioned a delay because they had to order several different flywheels because they kept ordering the wrong one or the wrong one kept begin shipped. If he would have at least done this, they would have seen the dowels missing and would have been able to fix it themselves, but clint refused to consider it was anything that his ship could have done since they always do it to spec.
I am working on posting that audio.
