I think the shop is going to slide on covering anything more based on teamjacobs online persona than anything else. The guy came up with the $5400 to pay them for the work they did, if they fucked up and didn't put the pins in, they need to step up and cover it.

This is a discussion forum that both parties are members of. It's also where the deal was set up, so I really don't see a problem with it being here.
I think these threads are important to show everyone how the shop handles the customer service side of things.

If you can't trust them to do the powder coating you paid for, can you trust them to admit a mistake like forgetting to install the dowel pins?

I will say this, My Silver Coupe had a junkyard sludged up oil motor. I am having to replace the whole motor on this car. It amazes me someone put a Holley Systmax Intake & new Edelbrock Waterpump & 4 core Rad along with Headers & Exhaust. The Body on this coupe is MINT! But the Motor is SHIT! It looks like it wa a badass car & someone took out the motor & trans & stuck in a sludged up motor.

Lesson the OP needs to learn. WORK ON YOUR OWN SHIT!!! That way when its wrong you only got yourself to blame. Nothing more rewarding then whooping ass in a car your built!

i dont see why everyone thinks tj needed to keep this offline and off the boards? it looks like he went about it the right way with phone calls, certified mail, etc.. after a few months of getting the "fuck you" from a shop i'd do the same thing, paid advertiser or not.

how many shops throughout the years have had people screaming from the roof how badass they are, only for the shop to fizzle out the next week/month/whatever because they fucked people over and did shoddy work.

I have had excellent service from TMS and will continue to go back there. I am sure that this thread will be copied for future reference. I hope that you are happy with some of the remarks you have made, but I don't think they were necessary. This is my point in a more matter-of-fact manner. Like Shumpertdavid said, every shop has its detractors. Look at Gearheads and the issue they had recently. Travis answered the call and said he would make it right regardless, that went away and they still operate. 6 months of dragging this out is tedious and worrisome.

As a shop your name and reputation speak volumes. I had an issue with a dealership that was similar to this thread. When it was all said and done the service GM said "this is a clusterfuck on both ends, we fucked up and that's that". I could have set those motherfuckers on FIRE but they squared their chin, took their licks and everyone is happy. I still refer people to them and I'd still use them for warranty work and labor.

Be a business. Be a REPUTABLE business. You already got almost 6 grand and a simple $500 "well fuck we made a mess of this because of some dowel pins" can end it. So end it.
