You need to run no more than a tow tune to be safe. I've seen plenty of studded trucks blow head gaskets in less than 20k miles. I know a guy on his third set in under 100k miles, but he tows too heavy and generally beats the shit out of it.

Mike and I didnt really talk about this, but I do agree. I would upgrade to a mini maxx and take the hassle of reprogramming out of it if it was mine.
When I rolled with you it was reading in degrees though. I know from my 6.0 that on the extreme race program I was hitting stupid high temps, and the tune was from Innovative, which was fairly conservative.

Mine were high for extended bursts with same programmer/tune, but you really shouldn't push a truck like that except on rare occasions. I never had a issue with mine, but I ran a tow tune.
Green,
the h&s is that well known on the 6.0 and doesn't offer the same peak numbers. I also believe that it doesn't haven't transmission tuning, or last I looked it didn't. I wanted to put one on my dually, but I think I'm just going to run the sct tow tune.

I lifted the heads off of mine after having it studded for 15,000 miles but I was towing on an aggressive tune. I ended up running the tow tune for the majority of life and was relatively trouble free from 50,000-130,000 towing before having to go in for a re-torque, then killed the tranny at 190k on the race tune. Dumped it before anything else broke.

It's supposed to read in degrees foo! And that decimal point being off one was a pain in the ass. Got that corrected when they reloaded the software for me, now it's good to go.
One of the things I've always done is watch those temps, and 1200 and change is the highest I've ever seen it. At this point I'm wondering why the hype on modding these damned things if you can't run tunes? Makes no sense...

In case you were wondering, the 6.0 powerstroke is made of glass.

on my extreme street tune I see over 1400 deg. I never worry about 1200. When towing my egts stay in the 9-11 range. I have towed my 10k camper 80 mph for 4 hrs strait like this with no problems. I don't tow on extreme street, just street tune for towing. My truck is studded and egr delete as well.

You bring up a good point about the hype modding them.
If you are an aggressive driver you shouldn't run the exteme tune on a daily basis, or tow with the damn thing. Have you drove the truck with a milder tune and it was too slow? I liked my 6.0 with a tow tune and exhaust. You have larger than stock tires on it?
Yeah, it has the 20's on it, thinking they are 275/60s?
The tune is the 'bazooka' and it is pretty good, mainly running it to get the mileage all the way up to 13, as lesser tunes had it closer to 11mpg. Ridiculous mileage out of it but what can you do?
