  • Need head gaskets '07 6.0

Anyone interested in putting head gaskets on my powerstroke? It's an 07 6.0. Talking with one tech on here who sounds like a great guy, but he's never done them before.

I'm not willing to pay the three grand the dealership is asking and so far the best quote out of a local shop is $2500. Anyone interested in making some side cash? 'Tis the season and all that...

Yeah, I thought about tackling it but you either have to completely pull the cab, or pull the AC box and lean the cab up, so you pretty much have to have a lift. Also, there is a shitload of stuff under there to take off and put back on. No way I could do it in the driveway...

What really sucks is the cocksucker named Mike Green, NOT the same one that is on here evidently, who used to work at Bankston Ford in Frisco and more recently at Grand Prairie Ford, did them 14 months ago. They were supposed to last a bit more than 27,xxx miles, I thought.

That is exactly what pisses me off man. They have ARP studs in them. Supposed to anyways, not sure at this point if he installed them.

I've now been told that this cocksucker purposely puts the thick gaskets (two different sizes available) in, so that they blow out and he gets to redo them. When I talked to him the other day he started saying that he thinks I have a cracked head. In talking with other mechanics cracked 6.0 heads are very rare. How would he know this without even looking at it?

Pretty sure, yes. This because, from what I have been told, only EGR and head gaskets cause the coolant to get pushed out from under the cap on the overflow tank.

When this scumbag had my truck he studded the heads, EGR deleted, oil cooler, and installed an SCT tuner.

Truck broke down a little over a month later when the long fuel line on the front of the block broke at the banjo fitting, due to his not putting the bolt in the middle of the line back in. That bolt is there to stop vibration. He laughed when I called him and said he would fix it for $500 more.

If he had the heads surfaced they wont hold a gasket if not surfaced smooth enough. Also the best gaskets are the OEM ones in my opinion. We do them by pulling the motor. Also 6.0 heads are prone to cracking, but when they do diesel gets in the water. They dont have a problem with blowing compression into the water jacket.

Not a cracked head then, as the oil looks fine, as does what water/coolant is still in the system.

I can vouch for it being a different Mike Green than is on here as I know for certain he's never done a set of 6.0 heads and never worked at Bankston or any dealership for that matter.

From what I remember in talking to the local Ford Dealer Techs, they can go from rolling the truck in to the cab lifted and ready to start engine disassembly in @ 45 minutes. They said the first one took them 6 or 8 hours.

Sounds like the guy that did it previously is a real douchebag, the sorry POS gives the rest of us a bad name.

His rep went from stellar, to total crap in a period of about a year.

I know as fact he was fired from two positions for theft of parts. Fraudulent warranty work and the like. Anyone have a Ford reps number? I don't like getting burned and I'm ready to start a fire over this...

I would suggest a change in your program. Did you ever get your egt hooked up? With that hotter program and your driving style no head gasket is safe unless you fire ring the heads.
