  • V-3SCi questions...

I have the SCi trim (entry level kit, 5-6psi) that says it is intended for bone stock applications. ie. no mods necessary according to vortech's website.

Now that my 87 isn't my DD anymore, I want to have a little fun with it. Anyone see any issue running 5-6psi in a completely stock form? The car is speed density... will I have to convert to MAF before running the SC?

Possibly a dumb question: My rear main seal is leaking (again). Any issues there with the blower? I'd like to limp that seal along until spring time if possible!

on the rear seal, it depends on how much blowby the engine has with the boost, even tho you have a pcv valve, you may have to vent the valve covers. Also, don't run your oil at the full mark, put it at 1/2 a qt low. I'd run better gas in it or mix some racing gas in premium for it.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

I would connect the nipple below the oil fill hole to the rear of the SC. This way it creates a pretty big suction. You don't need MAF. Set the base timing at 6 degrees for a starting point. 12:1 FMU with stock injectors will take you to 350hp easily. Be sure to run a 190 or 255 in tank pump or a 255 inline on a Hobbs switch. If its a stick shift get an MSD with a rev limiter. You don't want to miss a shift, break a U joint, or break 3rd gear at wot. Hit that factory 6250 and bye bye head gasket.

on the subject of 6250, is there a way to eliminate the or raise the factory rev limiter?

A tune/chip can take care of that.

Any recommendations on which one? I will eventually upgrade the blower to the full V-3SC version, and would expect 10 - 12 psi... but that is a good ways down the road. Is a 6-AL2 or a 6-AL2 programmable overkill?

Just for learning purposes, why the 6 AL box instead of the 6 AL 2 box? 30 dollar difference.
