  • ready to do this

picked up a set of GT40P heads yesterday, today, i ordered a head gasket set and head bolts, and ordered a smog pump eliminator from cjponyparts. i really hope i don't pull these heads off and find something else wrong. all of this because of a blown head gasket. BTW: anyone have a set of 1.7 RR's they want to get rid of? i would like to put some on now, but i will be fine with the one i have.

is there anything else i should do while having the heads off?

There are worse reasons to do the job. I ordered a new crate 306X engine because of a broken intake bolt. LOL!

^^^haha. I'm ready to do this. I'm hoping this gets me in the 8.9's in the 1/8 at least and hoping to pick up 2 mph also. This is something I wanted to do and what better time to do it

Cool, I was just asking do to the fact that stock 2.73's would damn near kill any improvement in hp from any head. Auto cars should have come stock with 4.10's.

If you plan on running n/a for a while have the heads milled and raise the compression.

The guy I got them from already had them milled and a valve job, he gave the receipt

how much where they milled? Might have to have your intake done as well.

That sucks, but i doubt it was much. prob enough to give it a flat fresh surface.

Pretty much what I figure. Once I get these heads on, get some tire and the bottle, I will be happy for now
