  • T5 is rattling all the sudden on my 95 5.0

Exited 635 on to Centerville Rd & was in 2nd gear & I thought I heard something come loose either in the trans or under it & then the T5 starts rattling like its hitting something as im moving. But the trans shifts 1s through 5th & reverse works. Any ideas?

I was about 2 miles & limped it home. It sounds like something is turning & hitting somthing else that is causing it to rattle. Going to jack it up & go look. Maybe I lost a DS Bolt

You can remove it from the bell housing.

man a trans on a mustang is cake. My car almost had a zipper underneath it for a while.

Could do one on jackstands by myself in a couple hours at most. changing the clutch as well haha.

Thats Awsome News of just dropping the trans itself! That means 4 Driveshafts Bolts & 2 Crossmember Bolts & 2 Trans Mount Bolts & 4 bolts that hold the trans in to the Bell Housing.

It was making the dreaded chirp for awhile & I have owned plenty of Foxbodys & I just ignored it on those cause the TO bearing never went bad on me. This is my first to date. But I can handle just dropping the trans then.

Be sure to clean all the old build up off the bearing retainer really good and apply a very thin coat of grease on it before reinstalling it.

be glad you got it home without having to shift it with no clutch. and that you didnt tear up the retainer.

Shifting without a clutch isnt hard, but you gotta practice at it haha.

Make sure the bearing retainer is free of rough areas so can be cleaned up some need to be replaced just look it over.
