Can I reuse my Intake Bolts or should I get new Intake Bolts & if so are these the ones I need to get http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARP-154-2001/

Also if the lifters where having a hard time pumping up cause the Valve Springs didnt have enough seat pressure to pump up. Does that mean they are ruined & will I need to get new lifters?

Shit is still exspensive even doing your own labor & buying used parts. Found a set of brand new lifters for $80 bucks thought SCORE

I wouldnt reuse TTY head bolts, and ARP is a great product. I have a set of studs I cant use, if you want to mess with studs.

Not sure how studs work. I picked up a set of brand new Ford Racing lifters off CL for $80 & going to start putting it back together today

Regarding doing a heads on spring replacement. Fuck that rope trick, just pressurize the cylinder with compressed air and call it a day.

yeah going to replace the heads with AFR 165s. But now im worried about Piston to Valve clearance & not sure how to check it. Noah explained it to me & to use Baby powder and clay a piston & with the heads bolted on. going to go give this a try & check. Will report back with pics

Yep, and you can use your old head gasket to check it, just make sure you torque the head down correctly just as you would for a final install.

Ok with no Headgasket this is how I checked it & took up to Dallas Mustang and checked the clearance on the clay & came in at 89 100ths or 1000ths, Im not sure the proper saying. Still learning the terms. Not sure how thick the headgasket is. But with Head gasket I should just barely clear right over 100 for the space I need between the Valve & Piston clearance. This is with 1.6 Rockers. Going to start cleaning the block to get it ready for Heads

Going to run the Clay test again as i did the test with Hydralic Lifters & was supposed to replace the Hydralic lifters on the cylinder with Solid lifters so the Valves can completely open

Anyone have a pair of Solid Lifters I can borrow?

Feel like im having a conversation or thread by myself. Where are all the Do it yourselfers when you need em

lol I have been reading. Do you have any extra lifters?? you can make the HL into a solid lifter by taking the spring out and putting a few washers on it when you put it back together.

Every engine I've ever fucked with has been a solid cam of some sorts, no clue. You might be able to get with the lifter manufacturer and see what the pump up height difference is.

Been meaning to post up some progress pics. But been lazy with my girl since she was off past two days & right now im doing a bunch Valvetrain Geometry tests to check the correct pushrod size for the AFR Heads & TFS 2 Cam.

Found this to make my own pushrods tool to check the length I need & thought it might be useful to some of my fellow stangers

                            Update!

Ordered the Adjustable Pushrod tool to check the length on my Pushrods for this TFS 2 cam

Question, Also have new set of Ford Racing lifters. Do I need to do anything to these like soak them in something or just drop them in?

just use assembly lube on the lifter bore and coat them lightly on the bottom. Just make sure you prime the engine with a drill to get the oil everywhere it needs to be. No need to soak them in oil.
