    I'm not doubting you but for Ford to warranty a motor in a race car....just sounds like a headache to make a claim. Considering they are voiding vehicle warranties for having the wrong air filter in the 2013's....I guess I just find it difficult to believe, that's all.

          actually just read page 281 of the 2012 Ford racing catalog under Performance Crate Engine Limited Warranty....

          This engine warranty does not cover:
          Damage due to improper installation, negligence, alteration or accident, including use related to racing or competition.....rest of the list is even more nails in the coffin.

          Why they even bother putting the warranty label on there...?

            I like this one, except considering your long term higher rpm racing, I would go down to your standard 4" stroke zero internal balance setup. You won't lose much power dropping the .1 in stroke and losing 10ci, but you'll gain longevity in the higher RPM setup. A plus is that Erik is right here in Houston, not far from you.

            Pick up the heads and intake you want used, then take it all to him and tell him you want the 408 and what its for. He'll spec out a cam for the setup and get you on the road.

            For the record, I've never met Erik personally, but he has been around a long time and has built motors for a couple of friends of mine who have had zero problems. One of which is a 427 stroked windsor with Vic Jrs on pump gas that runs 10.30s@3000-3100 lbs. That motor got an 80 shot hit on it and went 9.80s.

            I would go solid roller with good lifters and the probe shaft rockers (I'm running the Probes with no problems).

            As far as blocks go, stay away from the 80s blocks. My old 427 setup was built in an 84 block with a probe main girdle on it and had cap walk and cracked the center 3 mains after just a year of racing. I shifted that motor at 6400 rpms and it only saw 6700 rpms a couple times in the 1/4. I hear the 94-96 roller blocks are a bit better than the 80s blocks, but the 69-74 are the best of the production blocks. But honestly if I were building something to make that kind of power, see that many rpms continuously, and be reliable, I'd be getting a Dart Sportsman block for it! Those can also be found used for a reasonable price.
