  • The 91' explorer lives! Welder needed!

About a year ago I was given a free 91 explorer.. Guy blew the motor and threw in the towel.

72k miles, 5 speed, 8.8 31 spline. I decided that was enough for me to fix it.. Finally found an engine, bought it last Thursday. After I get off work ive been doing the swap. Tonight I finally finished.

It runs smooth, a bit of a high idle but it's got shitty gas in it and an empty tank from some asshole siphoning what was already in it.

Going to get some fresh gas and see how it changes.

    I however need something welded.

Derp that had it before me cut off the converter, luckily he cut it behind the flange... I have a converter off of a newer explorer, damn near identical but the newer one has a differant bolt arrangement, making it unusable. Can someone here or any reccomendations on who can cut the flange off of the newer one and weld my old flange on it? It doesn't look difficult at all.

Not real sure you want to cut and weld on a torque converter. I have been out of the auto transmissions for a few years, but I have never heard of that. Why not just buy the correct converter?

an apostrophe is used to replace letters/number

so 1991 could be shortened to '91

91' implies that there are more numbers following 91

        you're welcome

              Hell yeah..

And btw, the correct converter is ~$400. a universal cannot be used.

Be easier to just cut and weld a new flange on.

good luck, its not legal to install a used cat, so finding someone to do that for you would be difficult.

don't be a puss weld a straight pipe in there. just make sure you use something stronger than the stock muffler cause it will blow it out in no time

                            I don't need it installed.

                            Lol I can install it!
