  • Cylinder #5 Misfire

2000 mustang GT. Stock cams, stock heads (had valve job to freshen up) MMR750 shortblock, Kenne Bell non intercooled 2.1L, Alky Control meth kit, 3" pulley (showed 15.7# boost on the dyno)

NGK TR6 spark plugs, stock COPs.

Got this code after a 2nd gear pull on the street 2000-5500 rpm pull, short shifted and layed into 3rd gear for a second. CEL did not come on until after I coasted for about 1/2 mile, sat at a red light, then turned. Car did not idle rough, or run rough. No audible sound of it missing. Pulled # 5 and #6 plugs to compare, both looked good. Gap was .025 on #5 and .030 on #6.

Any ideas? I know the 2v Kenne bell kits bypass boost into #5 so I don't know if this was part of it?!

gap #5 to .030. What did the # 5and #6 swap do? If the same misfire happens on same cylinder than its the plug. If it changes than its the coil pack.

Just clear it and go. It is a problem with those Kenny Bells. It happens to us on occasions. Ours usually happens on burnouts and two many rpm's. Kenny Bell sells a kit to try and correct this but from what I understand it does not work. Talk to Josh at JKS he can tell you about it. Make sure you clear it after it happens or your motor will go into safe mode.
