  • surging?

On cold starts, the car will surge from about 600-700rpms to 900-1000rpms. It doesn't do it while driving or after its warmed up. It does it a little worse if I do a cold start and put it straight to reverse and sit there with the brake on. What could cause this? Car is an auto and mods are in my sig.

if it was the IAC...wouldn't it do it all the time?

probably, but it most likely needs to be cleaned anyway. I'm leaning more towards air meter.

I was in the habit, with my first stang, of cleaning TB, meter, and IAC every six months or so and that car had 187k on the clock with it never being cracked open for anything. ran like the day I bought it. '90GT BTW.

The gunk that is making it stick is cold and sticky when cold. It loosens up when warm.

                    This makes sense.

Guess I'll get everything cleaned out and see if it still does it.
